Who We Are

The Resilient Destinations Foundation (RDF) is a not-for-profit organisation working to address one of the most critical gaps in climate action:

The lack of integrated, locally grounded systems that connect sectors and translate global challenges into real solutions.

We bring together:

  • Communities

  • Tourism stakeholders

  • Development practitioners

  • Humanitarian organisations

  • Academic institutions

VISION

A world where destinations are :

  • Prepared for Climate Risks

  • Regenerative in nature

  • Inclusive in opportunity

  • Drive by local agency

MISSION

Our mission is to co-create Climate Responsible & Climate Resilient Destinations CRCRD by aligning communities, tourism, development and humanitarian systems to address the climate crisis through locally grounded, scalable action. We repurpose existing assets, knowledge systems, and networks to strengthen resilience, reduce carbon footprints, and build safe, livable environments with sustainable livelihoods.

Team collaboration

OUR JOURNEY

Born from decades of field experience in responsible tourism and disaster response, RDF emerged from real-world interventions:

  • Community-led climate monitoring systems

  • Evacuations during floods using tourism assets

  • Revival of livelihoods post-disaster

What began as a concern and response has evolved into a global framework for resilience.

CRCRD

Climate Responsible & Climate Resilient Destinations is a systems-level framework that reimagines destinations as a living socio-ecological system, integrating both climate responsibility(reducing overall carbon footprint across mobility, energy, infrastructure, and governance) & climate resilience( building the capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate shocks). Developed through decades of on-ground experiences, it bridges mitigation and adaptation into a single, place-based approach, moving beyond tourism as an isolated sector to align entire destinations toward low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable futures. KAITHA

KAITHA is conceived as a digital operating system that transforms destinations into coordinated, climate-resilient and climate-responsible ecosystems. It acts as a unifying layer that connects currently fragmented systems—tourism infrastructure, community networks, development efforts, and humanitarian response—into a single, continuously active network.

By mapping and activating existing assets such as accommodation, transport, local enterprises, and hyper-local data systems, KAITHA enables destinations to function as dynamic resilience systems: sustaining livelihoods and economic activity in normal times, while seamlessly shifting into real-time coordination platforms for preparedness, response, and recovery during crises.

Built on principles of co-ownership, participatory intelligence, and shared value, it ensures that both data and benefits remain rooted within communities while enabling scalable global collaboration.(read more...)
